The CW is the most unpredictable network when it comes to renewal/cancellation decisions, and this year was not the exception. I ended up predicting correctly everything, even The Carrie Diaries (sort of); however, most of my CW predictions were based on gut feeling and not logic.

I am happy about this year’s decisions although I am still a little sad about Emily Owens M.D. early departure. Of course I am beyond thrilled about Beauty and the Beast getting a second season after it was in danger of cancellation for so long, but in the end it WAS SAVED. Now, about Carrie… I actually like The Carrie Diaries, but I don’t get this renewal. Ratings were bad and I find it hard to believe it does THAT well online. I feel they are keeping this show around solely because it is part of a known franchise (Sex & the City), and I don’t know if I am OK with that. Whatever the case I have a feeling it will be gone after next year.

What am I looking forward to next season?

I’ll say this again, The CW is commonly known as the ‘teen network’, but it is one of the few networks that picks pilots with really interesting concepts every year. The idea that only teenagers can enjoy CW programming has to change. I am actually excited about most of the new shows planned for next year. The Tomorrow People sounds very promising and The 100 is right up my alley as well. Star Crossed (previously titled Oxygen) may be Roswell’s second coming… so, why not? I am in. I am really not sure how Reign will fit in the lineup, but I’ll probably watch it out of curiosity any way.
